There’s so much I can say, but I can’t bring myself to say them. Aaliyah was a beautiful spirit who touched the lives of many. Through dance, singing, and acting, Aaliyah continued to grow right before eyes. She was our little sister, our babysitter, our first crush, our best friend who naturally progressed into a beautiful woman. She understood the importance of being an artist first. She took time on each project, experimented with sound, producers, looks and made us love it each time. Though only releasing three albums, her music impacted us all and most of her songs were AHEAD of their time. (Try listening to Aaliyah CD for the example) Though tragedy took her life unexpectedly, we are forever grateful for the inspiration that she is/was and will be.
She was one in a million.

Love this! Aaliyah is a PRIME example of how this music “thing” should be done. I don’t see how some people can label themselves artists while lacking imperative traits of one. No respect. Maybe I’m just mean. Great post, Chris!! =)
it shows how dope she was, that she was able to connect to a generation beyond the realm of music in such a short period of time. RIP to a beautiful woman who was indeed ahead of her time.
i always wonder how huge she’s be now, if she were still here. even 8 years later…the pain of her loss is still felt. she was amazing, to say the least.
I loooooooooooove this chick! Thanks for spreading the tribute love. I just hope she inspires some new artists to do better than some of the people we are seeing out right now.
can you hypothetically imagine how different your teenage years would be if you knew you were going to die at 22?
i would have lived. it. up.
